{"id":14669,"date":"2019-06-14T12:05:00","date_gmt":"2019-06-14T10:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exgdete.cluster028.hosting.ovh.net\/?p=14669"},"modified":"2020-02-07T12:06:39","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T11:06:39","slug":"new-study-on-microplastics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/new-study-on-microplastics\/","title":{"rendered":"New study on microplastics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"hover_box\"><div class=\"hover_box_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"scale-with-grid visible_photo\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Microplastique.png\" alt=\"New study on microplastics\" width=\"\" height=\"\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"scale-with-grid hidden_photo\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Sans-titre5.png\" alt=\"New study on microplastics\" width=\"\" height=\"\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A brand new study commissioned by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) on microplastics has just been published by the University of Newscastle in Australia.<br> The report &#8220;No plastic in nature: Assessing plastic ingestion from nature to people&#8221; indicates that a person ingests 5 grams of plastic per week is the equivalent of a microplastic credit card!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the publication of this scientific report, the government will refer the matter to the ANSES in order to launch an in-depth study in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study carried out by the University of Newcastle is based on a total of 52 studies that were included in their calculations, 33 of which concerned the consumption of plastic via food and drink.<br>\nIt was estimated that one person consumes plastic every week:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1769 plastic particles in drinking water (tap and bottle)<\/li><li>182 particles in seafood<\/li><li>10 particles in the beer<\/li><li>11 particles in salt<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The long-term effects on human health following ingestion of large amounts of plastic are not yet well known.<br>\nHowever, studies have shown that :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>inhalation of plastic fibres appears to cause mild inflammation of the respiratory tract<\/li><li>in marine animals, high concentrations of microplastic in their digestive and respiratory systems can lead to early death<\/li><li>in vitro toxicity on lung, liver and brain cells.<br>\nThe World Health Organization is currently undertaking a review of the impact of microplastics on health.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The publication of this new study coincides with the publication of EU Directive 2019\/904 on reducing the environmental impact of certain plastic products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of 3 July 2021, single-use plastic products (straws, cutlery, plates, etc.) will be banned in the European Union.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A brand new study commissioned by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) on microplastics has just been published by the University of Newscastle in Australia.<span class=\"excerpt-hellip\"> [\u2026]<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":13643,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[181],"tags":[],"yst_prominent_words":[903,1280,1277,1292,357,1291,1287,1283,362,1290,1284,1293,1286,1282,1285,1279,1278,1288,1281,1289],"class_list":["post-14669","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-regulatory-watch"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/14669","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=14669"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/14669\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/13643"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=14669"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=14669"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=14669"},{"taxonomy":"yst_prominent_words","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/yst_prominent_words?post=14669"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
