{"id":17907,"date":"2020-05-18T17:39:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-18T15:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/?p=17907"},"modified":"2020-06-10T17:40:24","modified_gmt":"2020-06-10T15:40:24","slug":"sars-cov-2-and-bathing-waters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/sars-cov-2-and-bathing-waters\/","title":{"rendered":"SARS-CoV-2 and bathing waters"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"hover_box\"><div class=\"hover_box_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"scale-with-grid visible_photo\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/flacon-eau.jpg\" alt=\"SARS-CoV-2 and bathing waters\" width=\"\" height=\"\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"scale-with-grid hidden_photo\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Mer.png\" alt=\"SARS-CoV-2 and bathing waters\" width=\"\" height=\"\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 1 May 2020, the High Council of Public Health published a <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Avis-HCSP.pdf\">notice <\/a>on the use of bathing waters and natural waters in the context of the Covid-19 crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the\nabsence of currently available data on the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 in natural\naquatic environments, the expert committee worked by analogy with existing data\non other viruses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Problems\nrelated to water from the sewerage network (breakage of lifting stations, etc.)\nor during rainstorm events (overflowing weirs) near bathing water can lead to\nthe presence of bacteria or viruses in the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One\npossible symptom of this virus is the appearance of diarrhoea. Studies have\nshown that the SARS-CoV-2 genome can be found in the faeces of infected people\nwithout showing that it is infectious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The High\nCouncil of Public Health recommends that :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>the\nrespect of general physical distancing measures<\/li><li>to\npay particular attention to the monitoring of bathing water quality with regard\nto faecal contamination<\/li><li>to\nincrease the frequency of bathing water monitoring with at least one weekly\nanalysis of e.coli and enterococcal parameters.
