{"id":30689,"date":"2023-12-15T11:11:58","date_gmt":"2023-12-15T10:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/?p=30689"},"modified":"2023-12-22T11:12:40","modified_gmt":"2023-12-22T10:12:40","slug":"rasff-2022-annual-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/rasff-2022-annual-report\/","title":{"rendered":"RASFF 2022 annual report"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"hover_box\"><div class=\"hover_box_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"scale-with-grid visible_photo\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Fruits-legumes-Cereales.jpg\" alt=\"RASFF 2022 annual report\" width=\"\" height=\"\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"scale-with-grid hidden_photo\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/actu_publication-rasff-2016_02.jpg\" alt=\"RASFF 2022 annual report\" width=\"\" height=\"\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<p>The 2022 annual report of the Alert and Cooperation Network (ACN) has just been published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, 4,361 notifications were sent to the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1,514 border rejection notifications (35%),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1,164 alert notifications (27%),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>999 notifications for information (23%),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>667 information for follow-up (15%),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>17 new notifications (1%).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3,904 concerned foodstuffs intended for human consumption, 234 foodstuffs intended for animal consumption and 219 materials in contact with foodstuffs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The countries that notified the most were Germany (586), the Netherlands (559), Belgium (428) and Poland (320). The most frequently notified third countries were Turkey (557) and India (299).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most recurrent notifications are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pesticides in fruit and vegetables from Turkey (299),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salmonella in poultry and poultry products from Poland (190),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food contact materials from China (76),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salmonella in nuts, their derivatives and seeds from Nigeria (66),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aflatoxins in nuts, their derivatives and seeds originating in the United States (53).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Pesticides are the most frequently reported hazard, with 990 notifications. The most commonly found are chlorpyrifos (251), ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol (186) and chlorpyrifos-methyl (142). They are mainly found in fruit and vegetables (of Turkish origin) and in herbs and spices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pathogenic micro-organisms are in second place with 857 notifications. The most common were salmonella (603), listeria monocytogenes (132) and Escherichia coli (41). They are mainly found in poultry and poultry-based products, and nuts and nut products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mycotoxins were the 3rd most notified hazard in 2022, with 485 notifications. The most frequent detection was aflatoxins in nuts, nut derivatives and seeds from the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next come allergens, with 210 notifications, mainly in the cereals and bakery products category. Milk is the most notified allergen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compositional problems have also been reported (208) in dietetic foods, food supplements and fortified foods, as well as the presence of unauthorised substances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For animal feed (FEED), 234 notifications were sent to the RASFF. The most common hazards were salmonella (105) and enterobacteria, detected mainly in dog chews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>219 notifications concerning materials in contact with foodstuffs were submitted in 2022. The majority concerned primary aromatic amines, formaldehyde and lead.
