{"id":520364,"date":"2025-04-22T15:48:38","date_gmt":"2025-04-22T13:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/?p=520364"},"modified":"2025-05-21T15:49:40","modified_gmt":"2025-05-21T13:49:40","slug":"how-should-measurement-uncertainties-for-pesticides-be-taken-into-account","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/how-should-measurement-uncertainties-for-pesticides-be-taken-into-account\/","title":{"rendered":"How should measurement uncertainties for pesticides be taken into account?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"hover_box\"><div class=\"hover_box_wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"scale-with-grid visible_photo\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Fruits-l\u00e9gumes-04.png\" alt=\"How should measurement uncertainties for pesticides be taken into account?\" width=\"\" height=\"\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"scale-with-grid hidden_photo\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/drapeau_france.jpg\" alt=\"How should measurement uncertainties for pesticides be taken into account?\" width=\"\" height=\"\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A revision of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/veille-reglementaire\/nouveau-guide-de-gestion-des-alertes-alimentaires-2023\/\"><strong>alert management guide<\/strong><\/a> was published in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Annex XVIII of this guide addresses <strong>analytical self-checks<\/strong> in the context of alert management, in particular the <strong>reading of results<\/strong> by the operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>pesticides<\/strong>, in the event of <strong>MRLs being exceeded<\/strong> and in order to <strong>assess compliance<\/strong>, a <strong>measurement uncertainty of 50%<\/strong> should be applied to the raw result, except in the following cases:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The substance is classified as <strong>carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic category 1 (CMR-1)<\/strong> or likely to be so.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The substance does not have a <strong>toxicological reference value (ARfD)<\/strong> published by EFSA. However, measurement uncertainty is applicable to substances for which the ARfD is noted as \u2018not applicable\u2019 due to the absence of risk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The toxicological risk assessment for exceeding the MRL concludes that there is a <strong>risk to the consumer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These interpretation rules are taken into account in our laboratory.
