Processed food sector

The agro-food industries use ingredients extracted from food for the manufacture of processed and ultra-processed products. Foods are classified into four categories according to their degree of processing:

  • Unprocessed or slightly processed foods,

Processed foods are foods that have undergone processing and no longer have their original shape or condition. Food processing is carried out to ensure preservation or to modify organoleptic characteristics.
